How to add a window switch?
I am currently running the Crane HI-6 with the matching LX-92 coil. I am on the cusp of spending some cash for a 125 wet shot but havent been able to figure out the window switch part. If my ignition does not have it built in how do I add it?? Can I trust my own finger with a button on the steering wheel?? I have an A4 with the Transgo shift kit so I am currently planning on spraying through the shift. The stall is 2400 so I am pretty sure I can do it with a button and let go at the end of the track. Thanks.

What's the P/N of your Crane? I didn't think the Hi-6 had Window switch capability built into it..But you can buy a window switch and hook it into your set-up. I can get you a detailed schematic on how to do that if you like.
A RPM window switch is a simple device, it completes the circuit when your RPMs are within the window (i.e. starting rpm of 3,000, enfding rpm of 6,000). The RPM window switch can be connected in line with the throttle position sensor, so that the nitrous won't fire unless you're at both WOT and the RPM is within the window.

I just got off the phone with the Crane tech line and there is no support specifically for the window switch. It does do the timing retard so wiring that into the control is easy enough but the window switch will have to be totally seperate.

I found it. I started searching nitrous controllers and found all kinds of stuff. ZEX, NOS, etc... They all make them. The ZEX one even lets you skip first gear and wait untill second to start spraying. They take the 0-5 volt TPS voltage and rpm from the ignition to enable the 12 volt output. It's all built into one device for as little as 140 bucks. Thanks.

[QUOTE=dren70;4303549]I understand what it is and how it works. I am asking how to add it on if my Crane ignition does not support it?? What do I put in line with the TPS?? It sounds like some kind of device that reads the voltage and then only completes the circuit (closes its contact) when the voltage is above a setpoint. That sounds good. Please send me some kind of part / manufacturer name or link if you have seen this.
If you truely understand what it is and how it works, then the explanation I provided above, to wire it in-line with your TPS, is all you need.
It is totally separate from your Crane ignition.

Here's a link to detailed wiring instructions for a Mallory Window Switch:

It will definately be on its own dedicated circuit s_willlis. All I will use the controller output for is to throw the relay.
