Fuel Leakage Problem
Fuel Leakage Problem
Ok, to make a long story short, when I am not spraying I do not smell fuel and there is no fuel leaking anywhere. When I do spray, I smell fuel extremely bad and when I pop my hood there is fuel all over the solenoid and all the connectors so I really can't tell where it is coming from.
My deduction: since it is not leaking until I spray it, it has to be somewhere in front of the solenoid and not in the back, Right?
Also, do you guys use any type of sealant to help keep these things from leaking?? I know it says not to use teflon tape but I have heard people say to use teflon paste. Anyone?

You could always disconnect the nitrous solenoid (very important) and activate the system so only the fuel solenoid is functioning. Then activate the system and try to observe from where the fuel in coming from. As for the teflon paste or tape, it is fine to use them on the NPT fittings, but it is not recommended for the AN fittings.
i had same problem although mine leaked always. all the teflon taped NPT fittings on the fuel noid where brown and yellow and i could tell were leaking. took them all apart after bleeding fuel system, retaped them all very nicely and cranked the HELL outa them with a combo wrench. no problems since.
ok now here's the deal. I teflon'd just about every connection that went to the fuel solenoid. the teflon is still white and shows not sign of deteriation (sp?). But, I still smell and see fuel. I ran my finger along the solenoid and it came back wet and smelling like fuel. It almost seems like it is leaking right below the plastic cover thing that is on the solenoid. It is a nitrous works kit BTW. Could I have a bad solenoid?
nitrous works have been known to have not the greatest solenoids. i would rebuild it, or go with a better one like NX noids or a site sponsors solenoids. might wanna pull it apart and have someone look at it who could maybe tell you weather or not its bad. im not sure if theres an easy way to find out if its good or not, or exactly what would be wrong. someone on this site could prolly help you out, or like i said just take it in and have a knowledgable guy/shop take a look at it.
I got the kit for free pretty much so I can't really complain if I have to buy new solenoids. How do you go about rebuilding a solenoid? Does anyone have any instructions on how to do it?
you basically pull off the big nut at the top and the plastic peice or w/e comes off and theres a spring and whatnot in there. ive never done it but i know someone will be able to help you. if it was a free kit, upgrading to some new noids wouldnt be too bad of an idea. for under 200 bucks you will have a helluva system without worrying about a stickin' noid.
I found a brand new nitrous works solenoid on ebay for 40 bucks. I went ahead and bought it. I don't really want to spend that much on my nitrous kit because I don't drive the car that much and right now all my money is going into paying off some bills before I move this summer. I guess if the solenoid is not the problem I can just turn around and sell the new one on ebay too.
