Double check my inline pump install plz...

I've got an inline NOS fuel pump that I bought off the forum. I'm going to install it tomorrow, but I don't have any install instructions. Just a couple questions:

Should I wire it so the pump gets 12 volts when the ignition is on, or should I wire it so it gets 12 volts as soon as I go to WOT.

Is the pump passive? Will the stock pump be able to pump fuel through the inline when it is not running?

Last, does it matter which lead on the inline gets 12 volts and which is ground? I can't seem to find any markings on the pump that indicate polarity.

Thanks!

you should hook it to a 12v source that is conected to the ignition so it's on when the car is runing and as far I know it's not passive so it has to be on when the intank pump is pumping not only at wot.
hope this helps.

It is passive, atleast mine is, but mine is wired to be on with the ignition! Why wouldnt you want to run it all the time? i would think if it only came on at WOT it wouldn't react fast enough and would possibly cause you some problems you don't want! I say wire it to a switched 12V

You need to keep the inline pump running at all times. You want to wire it so it runs whenever the stock pump runs, and only then.

Best way to wire it is per the NOS instructions.... since you don't have them....

1. Run a heavy gage wire, with 20-amp inline fuse directly from the battery red + box to a 30-amp relay in the back of the car.

2. Pick up the +12V wire off the stock fuel pump harness (its a gray wire in the chassis connector under the floor, right above the front of the rear axle). Tap into that wire, and run a wire to the "signal" terminal of the relay.

3. Run a wire from the relay ground terminal to a good body ground.

4. Run a heavy gage wire from the correct relay terminal (+12v output) to the pump "+" terminal for +12V

5. Run a heavy gage wire from the pump "-" terminal to a good body ground.

Are you aware of how to splice the pump into the fuel line, without cutting anything? Another item covered in the instructions. If you want the instructions, I'll fax you a copy of the fuel pump pages. Post or e-mail your fax #.

Its a corvette so I doubt the fuel line procedure would work. I E-mailed you awhile back and asked for the instructions, but never got a response.

I am pretty sure I got it all figured out. Thanks for the offer though!
