bottle pressure guage question
bottle pressure guage question
Ok, I just bought a phantom 2 1/16" nitrous pressure guage that mounts up front where the driver sits (I will mount on pillar probably) I have yet to buy my nitrous kit though and was wondering if I will still need a pressure gauge to put on the bottle. I plan on putting the bottle in the rear seat, so the pressure gauge that is up front won't be all too far away. If I were to add a pressure gauge to the bottle I would need some sort of a 3 hole adapter or something though (I think) because I am gonna put in a dynotune automatic bottle heater which needs to read the pressure also. So what do you guys think I should do?
Re: bottle pressure guage question
I know summit has the fitting that you need, most local performance shops around here have them too, but I'm not sure what you have around you. If you have a mechanical nitrous gauge(nitrous line goes to back of gauge), then I doubt you will be able to fit it in the a-pillar...I was going to do the same thing....I ended up puting it in the radio bezel where the center a/c vents used to be. There are pics of it on the second page of the website in the sig if you want to check it out. Still needs a little work though, so go easy on me.
Re: bottle pressure guage question
Hook you dash gauge to the main nitrous line where it connects to the nitrous solenoid(s). Use a "gauge block" fitting.... male -4AN on one end, female -4AN on the other, so it connects in between the end of your hose and the solenoids. If you have a mechanical nitrous pressure gauge, be sure to screw a "restrictor" fitting into the gauge block, to brevent a high flow of nitrous into the passenger compartment in the event the gauge breaks. AutoMeter supplies the restrictor fitting with their nitrous gauges. Then run a braided S/S hose into the passenger compartment to the gauge.
NOS makes the gauge blocks in -6AN (PN 16771) and -4AN (PN 16770) sizes.

Re: bottle pressure guage question
I ran mine through the grommet behind the PCM, but it only goes as far as the center A/C vent. To get all the way to the A-pillar (it is going to be difficult to "fit" the nitrous pressure gauge into an A-pillar pod, because of the large fitting and rigid hose), it will take a very long hose, depending on where your solenoids are. There is a spot behind/below the brake booster, towards the fender side, where you can drill a hole from inside the car, if that makes it easier to run the hose. If you want the exact dimensions for the hole, referenced to the brake booster, I can get them for you. I have some of my nitrous system wiring running through that hole.
Re: bottle pressure guage question
ok thanks guys.....this is almost looking like more of a hassle then it is worth. I guess I'll have to see what I can do when it comes time for me to install it.
Re: bottle pressure guage question
It won't be hard to hook up the gauge or run the main line. I can help you when your ready and i'm sure we can find a way to do it without drilling if thats what you want.
Re: bottle pressure guage question
hey mark, when are you getting the juice? I'll have to take a trip to 41 with ya when you spray the first time..
Put some headers/exhaust, stall and a cam on that bad boy and you have a 12 sec car.

Re: bottle pressure guage question
I think he would be knocking on 11's door.....the juice(if he is conservative and sprays 100) will lower his e.t. a second alone...stall, headers, etc...will help ALOT if he has traction.....
Re: bottle pressure guage question
yea I wanna be very close to the 12's with headers and gears alone......and then lower 12's with the juice. I mean think about it, I am running 13.6 consistantly now and with gears and headers into true duals I would look to gain .5 sec or so. If I were to add a stall, and I probably wont for now any way I would want 12.7-12.9 with just bolt ons. Maybe I'm optimistic, but I think it can be done. Camz383: I'll have to make the trip up to 41 for sure next year a few times.
Ltwonz: thanks for offering to help...I'll have to hit ya up next spring maybe around March or so and some Saturday we can get it installed. Thanks everyone for the help, and jeremyferguson I would pay you to make me a gauge cluster like the one you made that replaces the center vents.....if your up to it pm me.
