Question 396 Stroker...Ready for 2-stage...

OK...The motor is running good. I have recently put my old NOS dry kit w/150hp jets on and no problems. I am not hitting the NOS until I shift into 2nd due to traction probs. Enough of that... My question is about the setup that I am ready to buy. Your advice is what I need!! I want a 2 stage setup that I can leave the line with on about 50-100hp and the have 100hp+ on the second stage. I know my current Accell ignition will have to be replaced with something with retard capabilities. What would ya'll recommend? Fuel supply....stock fuel pump with auxilary NOS pump inline..30 lb. Accell injectors. Is the fuel pump setup going to be sufficient? And finally, the actual nitrous kit. Who makes the best kit for my setup? What are the advantages of any certain kit over another? Any advice as far as what NOS setup I should go with would be appreciated.

I would go with the NX EFI dual stage nozzle. Part #20224. It is adjustable from 50-100hp X2. I guarantee this kit to outperform the NOS or any other brand on any hp setting. You seriously would probably be better off getting an EFI race kit, which is adjustable from 100-250 hp, and then using a Nitrous Maximizer. This nitrous controller has been proven to outrun all 2 stage kits. Go to NX to check it out. It will better for you in the long run, and much more adjustable. I cant give you any prices, or I will be deleted, to show you the differences, but you can go to NX and get a good idea. I could explain how this system would work better too, but am afraid of typing a bunch, only to have it erased. Email me if you would like more info.

CustomN2O, is this based on the fact that NOS sizes their $1 jets for HP at the flywheel (where every other vendor HP measurement on the planet is measured), whereas NX sizes them at the rear wheel so they result in higher numbers? Or is there some other reason an NX kit will outperform every other brand?

To be honest with you, I dont believe NOS will even make their HP numbers at the flywheel. NOS is designed to be way fat (rich). Their nitrous to fuel ratio is somewhere around 5to1. NX is more of a performance oriented kit, and their ratio is about 8.5to1. This means a better mixture, for making more power. The effects of the different companies nozzles, in terms of atomization, is another factor. NOS nozzles are very poor in their atomization of the fuel. This along with their "fat" tuneups, is one of the reasons why you see people pulling 2 degrees of timing for every 50hp of nitrous. With an NX kit, you wont have to do this. THe shark nozzle is far superior in atomization. I dont even pull any timing till the 200 hp setting, and thats on an 11:1 motor. On my race motor, I only pull out 8 degrees of timing for the 300 shot, and that is to help soften the hit on the small tires, and for alittle more MPH on the big end.

I'm very happy with my nx kit. My question is are you running race gas with the 200 and 300 shot? are you running any dfi or speed pro for a computer?

Yes I run race gas. The motor is a 12.5 to 1 350. I use ERC 118 octane nitrous/blower fuel. Its hard to burn, but very safe. I dont run Fuel Injection, just a single dominator. The 300hp setting, launching on transbrake at 6700rpm, is one hell of a wild ride. CRAZY fun.

i put in 110 and bumped the timing to 6 degrees and ran the 150. Damn that made a differance. I went from a high 12 low 13 second car to a low 11 second car over night. It sure feels good to finally get that thing running good. And to think it just took timing and race gas. and some juice!!
