Why put a weaker DS in your car, Especially if it see dragstrip time? Sorry... don't mean to step on anyones toes here but and aluminum driveshaft ABSORBS some of your launch torque, hence negating most of the drivline weight loss.
If I were you, I'd look for a lightweight steel shaft. I think SLP sells them. Just my .02!

Consider your driveshaft sold if it's in decent shape kandied91z. I don't plan on being at M8, although I might be able to make it. What area of Michigan are you in? I'm near Detroit.
PM me if you don't mind and we'll work out the details.
?????
Do you BANG gears??? Sometimes rotating mass is not worth the damage it can do for a few extra HP. Do as you wish, as I said... I'm not here to step on Kand's toes
. HP has little to do with it, it's torque and the banging of shifts, THATS ALL!!

Well, actually no, I don't bang shifts. Try doing that in a 20 minute sprint race about a dozen times a year or more and you'll be replacing parts and not going enough quicker to be worth it. Banging shifts gets you a lot more when you do it 1-2 or 2-3. Don't forget I'm in 3rd gear and above all the time.
I can understand that drag racing is completely different than what I do. Heck, I used to drag race. I just decided I wanted to feel g forces in more than one direction.
Believe me, I'll have no durability problems whatsoever with an aluminum driveshaft for my application. Where I have my problems is brake pads, tires, front wheel bearings, etc. Stuff that lasts you for years.
Well, at least your front tires might last for years.

Well, Jeff (kandied91z) apparently has to keep his driveshaft. He wounded the one that was in the car over M8 weekend. I'm still looking for someone local who wants to sell his driveshaft.
Anyone have any salvage yards they would recommend? I'll go scouting them if needed. I'm a little east of Brighton and south of Commerce if there's one near me that caters to our kind of cars.

Well I have a 3 1/2 inch Dynotech aluminum driveshaft but it would have to be cut down to fit, its 47.5 inches from center u-joint to center u-joint. I also have a spare driveshaft for my vette, hopefully I'll never need it, let me know what length you need.
