My car is lope-ing and I have no cam. Well at least the guy who sold it to me didnt say so. I have a m5 it idles at 900 but at times it will lope down to 500 and back up to about 900-1000. Once i hit the gas it will go back to normal at 900. Help is it the wires? Am I getting enough spark? The wires are stock. Is this a rotor/distributor problem b/c this weekend I'm going to do a full oil and tune up- wires and the whole nine. Thankz FiveO

 

Rolling idle is a common problem, and the fix takes about 5 minutes. The Idle air control valve on the side of the throttle body often gets stuck because of carbon deposits. Simply unscrew it into 2 pieces (take the 2 screws out) and take some carb spray cleaner and clean the pintle. That is probably where the majority of the problem is coming from. While you are there give the throttle body a good cleaning too. This should solve the problem.

Yep, that's what I did for mine, and it hasent done it since. It made it a pain to run the a/c, as it was prone to stalling at a stoplight with the idle dropping to low.

Btw, q-tips work great, and I think I went through a good 50 of em'.

You can also try cleaning the maf sensor with a little rubbing alcohol and some q-tips. Be careful though, as the wire is very delicate and the q-tips sometimes shred on the sensor. Just take your time and it's really not diffacult.
