Question Anyone going to Milan tonight?

Anyone going to Milan tonight? I am thinking about taking my car up. I have never had it on the drag strip yet at all. I was hoping someone else was going to be there to show me the ropes..

Milan just makes me depressed.
I went there a few weeks ago and I would launch at 1,000 RPM with my 2.73's and blow the tires off through 1st get a premature upshift to second then my car would get traction. At this point I would be going about 30MPH in 2nd when my car redlines 1st at 55mph. So....it would downshift back to 1st and finally start rocking. On ONE run did I get a semi-clean run 12.69 @110 (I should have been running at least 12.55's)
I swear I could hook up better on wet grass
If you have never been to a track and you go to milan then be prepared to be SUPER depressed with your cars performance.

Nick -I don't know what was going on, but I was at Milan last Friday and it was actually hooking pretty good. I even ran a new personal best in my '02 (see sig)! The track didn't start to go away until later in the day when the sun started to go down. I got in 11 runs with (3) 2.0x, (5) 2.1x and (3) 2.2x sixty foot times all on my stock Eagle GS-C's. I could even launch at 3000 RPM!

akrott1 - I'll probably be at Milan this Friday in my convertible. I want to see if the new Auburn Pro diff helps my 60' times any. If you decide to wait until then, look for a guy in a black camaro convertible.

Thanks guys! Sounds like Friday night is the night I should go. What time do you normally get there. I have to work on the wife now to get my hall pass for Friday.

Gates open at 4:00. Test and tune starts sometime shortly thereafter. The earlier you get there the better off you are. It's usually not that busy between 4:00 - 6:00.

Also, on Friday's you pay your $20 for test & tune and you can get in on the bracket race for free (the race starts around (8:00 pm). The prizes are small but it's still fun.

I went there early yesterday to get some numbers before the next round of mods.
I got in 5 runs watched some other people run and was home by 6. Going early works for me.
The right lane was hookin OK but the left was pretty sad.
I made it a point to watch a yellow 2003 Cobra make a run. After the official on the starting line finally got him staged, he ripped off a blazing 14.4.
My LT1 Caprice was scootin down the track at 14.7 - 14.8. Enough to kill 2 ricers a modded t-bird and an LT1 M6 formula that blew the launch.
