Info On Elizabeth, NJ Used Car Dealer
Wanted: Info On Elizabeth, NJ Used Car Dealer
I am thinking about purchasing a car from a dealer called Hatt Auto Sales in Elizabeth, NJ. Being from Pittsburgh, PA, I know nothing of this dealer's reputation.
Does anyone have any experience with this dealer? Does anyone know of this dealers reputation?
I have done a BBB search, adn it came up empty. CarFax on VIN shows a clean history, and dealer appears to have been very honest to this point.
Help!
Thanks.

Never heard of it, but Elizabeth is a big city... I assume you are looking at buying a car over the net without having visited the dealer? Its most likely just a small business mom or pop shop selling used cars from auctions... be carefull if you have never been there. There are alot of crooks in NJ.

Re: Info On Elizabeth, NJ Used Car Dealer
Hey, thanks for the input, I appreciate it.
Not going in completely blind, I have co-workers at Newark airport who looked at and test drove the car, and gave it a thumbs up.
I have heard about Elizabeth's reputation, and have seen a lot of NJ cars fail a CarFax report, but this one seems to be above par. It is an auction car, but I believe very few cars of this vintage on used car lots did NOT come from the auction. They are not trying to hide that fact, or anything else it seems (maybe really good sharks?).
I will let you know how it turns out if I complete the deal.

Re: Info On Elizabeth, NJ Used Car Dealer
yeah Elizabeth NJ is the shipping capitol of the US basically. Alot of crooks around there. The city itself is pretty much a mess. I dont think there are many "good" neighborhoods around there.
Buying a car from an auction isnt always a bad thing. A lot of dealers get their cars from auction and its ok as long as they are not trying to hide it.

Re: Info On Elizabeth, NJ Used Car Dealer
Red, I just want to inform you that this area had a lot of "flood" cars this past summer. I have no info on the dealer or the car you looking at. Just to let you know.
Re: Info On Elizabeth, NJ Used Car Dealer
Wow! Did not know that. Thanks for the heads up. From my understanding, this car was a private party car recently traded to a new car dealer in PA, and sold to the Elizabeth, NJ dealer at auction. CarFax report agrees with this, so I hope it is right!
But, you never know with used cars..........
