Re: Any good Place/Mechanic in Upstate NY

There's Prestige Motor Car co. in Glenville. They do a lot of classic and Corvette work. They are some of the best guys out there, very very good, but they charge top dollar and the waiting list to get serviced is pretty long.

Also in Glenville is Fogg's Auto. Good place, nearly top dollar but they also do some very good work.

Then I'd also reccomend Salisbury Chevrolet in Scotia, I know a few of their mechanics that are very good in mods. It's a true Chevy dealer, so you still pay a lot.

Then in Mechanicville I'd reccomend New Country Pontiac GMC Buick. Guy in their service department, name of Frank, did some favors for me a while back. Done everything on lt1's and ls1's (Vettes and fbodies alike) from nitrous, superchargers, to a big block swap... Again though, it's a GM dealer, so it's expensive.

Then there's Spenards on Central/State Street (near the Porsche dealer and the Hess Station down toward the Hyundai/Kia dealers near Metro Ford) Good guys that may not all be top notch as far as certification, but they get things done and have one of the lowest labor rates in the area. Also have always been very helpful in doing little things and such.

Really though, installing headers isnt that bad. It's a full day job the first time you do it (espicially without a lift) but it's not too bad.

Jay,

I know a good shop in ballston spa ... exit 12 off the northway I-87

He's the guy who did the clutch/pp setup in the car ...

I can do some of the work for ya. Just let me know when you have ALL the parts and are ready to get to business .... You got my AIM--- I'm not working now so I'll have a couple weeks to fiddle with it if you need me to...

That car sounds familiar. Perhaps I just saw a 6spd conversion on an Impy SS (dont remember if it had an lt1 or ls1 under the hood) but the car was certainly sweet...
