ya think these are good for turbo app?

http://www.cnc-motorsports.com/produ...922&CtgID=1133

or would you go with these and pay up the extra 100 bux

http://www.cnc-motorsports.com/produ...087&CtgID=8077

mind you, those scats are 4340 forged steel, and can 'supposedly' handle upto 700hp... and ure gunna be saving a lil bit of money in teh end too...

i went to a speed shop today, and teh guy told me that I beam rods are crap if i'm going for something like a turbo motor....

but these were priced better, and its 4340 steel, so they're pretty strong....

what do u say?

Ive seen the Eagle 5140 I beam forged rods survive in an 600 hp motor, I dont see why the scats with better metal wouldnt.

its not about the metal, its about the differences in the heat treating.

So a forged 4340 rod is no stronger than a forged 5140 rod?

sorry, im tired and didnt look the the forging number in your post. i would go with the lunati pro mod or the callies dragon slayer, better heat treating and will be more likely to live if the boost gets turned up.

Yeah the Eagle SIR rods are a 5140 steel forged rod, the Scats are 4340.

I know what youre saying though in equal metal the surface prep really makes a diff.

Although I do know that a 5140 rod will bend more before breaking than a 4340 rod, but the 4340 will take more before breaking.
