XE 224/230 w/ hot cam kit? can i do that?

I am doing a cam soon, and was thinking of ways to save money. I was considering buying the LT4 HOTCAM KIT, and the CC XE 224/230. But then selling the LT4 CAM only, and using the remaining kit with the XE 224/230... sounds like a good savings over the individual CC parts. Would it work???? Thanks guys

From what I have seen and heard the hot cam springs are good for .525 lift. If you will exceed this with 1.6 RR and the XE cam then I would not go that route.

www.cmotorsports.com have new springs that they are selling for 90.00 plus shipping that can handle .600 lift and you will not need to machine the heads to make the springs fit.

Hope that helps,

cmotorsports also sends out the retainers and everything you need to install the springs (everthing short of a valve spring compressor). I think it might be a better choice to work out a deal with them on that cam and springs and then go buy some 1.6 RR or if you are on a budget then get just the Roller tip rockers for 199.00 OR mabee cmotorsport can hook you up there too.

I have dealt with this company before and so have my friend, they are great to deal with. My friend is acutally using the springs I told you about that they are selling and it works great and I can verify (cuz I installed em) The springs will go in with out ANY suprises...

Good Luck!

I agree with 95 Silver TA, give CMotorsports.com a call and ask for Seth. They have been the most helpful place I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with.

Yes I do agree with Claude, I am the friend who he is talking about ... go there to get all your stuff you will not be disappointed with their products.
Also you have to remember that the XE cams have a higher ramp speed on the lobes then the lt4 hot cam. I understand that the LT4 springs maybe able to handle the lift but might not have enough spring pressure to handle the ramp speed of the cam at high rpm (which results in valve float). I would double check the required spring pressures required for the cam and compare that with the specs on the hot cam springs to see if it will work.
If you decide to get the lt4's I have a set of brand new springs still in the box.

Jim

just pick up a set of used 1.6rr's and then but the cam and springs. i don't think you would save much by buying the kit. you'd basically be buying the rockers and gaskets. but then you'd have to turn around and sell the cam and the springs. not sure if it would be worth the trouble and the shipping. also check thunder racing. i've dealt with them several times and had nothing but great results.
