Won't start

I was idling in 1st the other day and my car completely shut off. I put it in park and tried to start it and nothing happened my battery guage stayed under 8 volts. I took the battery home charged it over night put it in the next day and tried to start and all I got was a click. Checked my battery at the auto parts store and it was good. Knocked on the starter that didn't work either. Any body have any idea what it could be??

Re: Won't start

Make sure the battery cable connections are good. Every time I have seen a similar problem, and the battery was good, it was the connections. Make sure the cables are clean and tight. If you don't find a problem at the battery, or the junction box on the fender, check the ground and the starter connection.

If that doesn't work I would suspect the battery, even though it tested good. I have had batteries that started the car fine one minute and were completely dead five minutes later when I tried to restart the car.
