won't start!

Ok, my car has been running ok, but i thought it was kinda rich. One day it started to bog when i gave it gas but not enough to kick the transmission down. I decided since it might be rich that i should change the plugs. I pulled them off and sure enough they were pretty crappy considering they werent that old. Then I put in the new plugs and started it up and it started up ok as it had and ran about teh same, i didnt take it out cause I needed to get to sleep. My dad came over and we were going to do things and we were taking my car and i go out there and it wont start. Lately it took a sec or two to start it, but i sat there and cranked it for 5 secs and nothing. Then when i let the key go it seemed to try to crank like it was firing on maybe 2 or 3 cylinders and stopped. I tried to start it a couple more times but same result. I had to leave it for teh next day and still did teh same thing. I looked at the plugs and they looked bad for only running for 5 mins. Their gap was perfect, and I even checked the plug wires if i had stupidly mixed them up, but they were fine. Now I am thinking that maybe its the opti and it was kinda bad for a while and now it finally went. My dad said he thought it acted like the timing chain jumped and now the mechanical timing is screwed. It has about 140,000 on it and I had taken it in to the dealer to scan it since I dont have one yet and they said it wouldnt scan. That it was my accel 300+ that caused it to not scan. Please I need some ideas and info.
