Wilwood Upgrade and Firehawk Wheels
Wilwood Upgrade and Firehawk Wheels
Well, on Monday my Wilwood kit should arrive, and I'm trying to prepare where possible.
I am almost 100%, but not quite yet sure that the Firehawk rims have the same type of clearance that a WS6 or SS or stock wheel had. Has anyone had experience with this wheel and aftermarket brake kits? I am only worried about the caliper to spoke clearance, not caliper to rim, since I am 110% that it will fit diameter wise.
Also, I need to safety wire the rotor to the hat. Where can I pick up some safety wire? At the reccomendation of a friend of mine, I am skipping the safety wire pliers, and am just going to try to do it with some pliers wrapped in a soft tape, to prevent knicks and scratches. (Yes I know it will take much longer)
Also, I will be replacing the brake lines with stainless braided lines as part of this kit, so does anyone have tips for removing the brake line from the body side hard line? What size line wrench will I need?
My friend has a plasma cutter he will let me use to modify the knuckles, but I would have to do the install at his place in Orlando, and since I am current in West Palm, I'd rather try to do it with a sawz-all, but does anyone think I'd be far better off with the plasma cutter?
I have to do a 4 wheel bleed, I assume, and I plan to try to flush the entire system out with new fluid. What brake fluid does everyone reccomend? I am told to use either DOT3 or DOT4, but NOT DOT5.
What other specialty tools might I need?
