Will somone interpret my datalog?
Re: Will somone interpret my datalog?
I read it again today. I let the car heat up to 200 F and the lowest the IAC counts got was 70. The TPS voltage remained right about .76v.
Wouldn't the idle be affected if the counts are higher? Or are the higher counts the IAC compensating for something to keep it at a desired idle?
I will look up how to reset the IAC sensor and re read them afterward on Tuesday.

Wish I knew more but will share what I do know. The count memory( or starting point )is 32(I believe). Therefore it is desired to have it close to that so things are good whenever pcm gets reset or battery disconnect(so car dont have so far in relearning). Shoebox site has the method to reset it as well as testing with multimeter. When I tested mine with the multimeter it was within specs even though something else was wrong with the iac valve. I personally think I somehow damaged mine when transferring over from stock tb. I proba ly did it no favors cleaning it either. Mine acted sticky. I had inconsistant numbers on my counts (compared to rpm)if I remember correct as well. Mine would either keep idle about 400rpm or 1800 rpm by the time I couldn't take it anymore and quit driving car until I got a replacement. I saved alot of money by online part hunting over dealer price. If valve and all the passages are clean and working correct there is ways to get the count back to desired levels but I think it is probably pointing to something being wrong. If your ac is charged might want to watch the counts when you turn it on and what effect it has on your idle(given ac is charged). I started running everyday looking at live data and watching my counts and learned a little. My biggest problem was I was also off some on the injector settings and was doing some of the mods on my throttle body and the iac sticking and going out was a really big pain and caused me to have to re-do things. Good luck and hopefully someone can offer up some good suggestions to try because I just dont know enough.

one thing to consider also is perhaps on the log Fred posted numbers from you had reset your pcm or disconnected battery recently enough it hadn't climbed the memory up so high(something to keep note of as it might take quite a few minutes(at a warmed up idle) to set the memory that high and given you weren't at a warmed up idle much it could take a while to climb that high)

Re: Will somone interpret my datalog?
The PCM has a "target" idle speed, when fully warmed up. The PCM adjusts the "counts" to try and get the idle to that target. If the idle is lower than the programmed target idle speed, counts should increase until it reaches the target. The "counts" you see on the scanner is what the PCM is telling the IAC valve to do. The IAC valve is a stepper motor, that responds in discreet "steps" (= counts). There is no feedback in OBD-I from the IAC valve to the PCM to tell it if the IAC is actually responding to the PCM counts. There is no feedback regarding the actual air flow. So the system is operating blind.
You can check the electrical continuity of the valve using Shoebox's instructions (maybe someone already gave you this link - I didn't go back and look).

But that still doesn't tell you if you screwed up the pintle by moving it, dripping cleaner into the electronics, have a plugged up idle air passage, have coolant seeping through the bottom plate gasket, etc.

Re: Will somone interpret my datalog?
I went out to make sure everything was sealed up today and found out that somehow the lower lip on my rubber intake elbow got folded over on itself when put on. I thought maybe this would have something to do with the IAC counts so I fixed it and nothing changed.
When cold the IAC counts started around 77 and slowly went down as it warmed up to almost in the 60's. As soon as the car went into closed loop the IAC counts immediately went back up into the 80's.
I'll go follow that link and see what I get.

Re: Will somone interpret my datalog?
I was able to get the IAC counts to average about 37 by turning the idle screw clockwise 1 1/4 turns. It was my previous understanding that this would raise the counts?
I recall when I got the TB I did adjust the screw with the TB off the car so the blades were completely closed. As this was my understanding of how it was supposed to be, hence the purpose of the IAC.
Anyway, my tps voltage remained high at about .82v. What could this be from?
There is no noticeable difference in how the car is running.
