Will a bbody Lt1 drop into an Fbody with the fbody harness?
Will a bbody Lt1 drop into an Fbody with the fbody harness?
Title pretty much sums it up. I'm buying a 96 camaro from a friend in March as I don't have room for it atm. It's a rolling chassis with harness and computer, the og motor is going in his hot rod. I have a spare motor from a 96 caprice that I bought as a parts car for my 94 9c1 winter driver. I know the bbody motors have different heads and cam than a camaro but if I used the fbody harness and front accessories will it just drop in? I didn't know if the fbody had different injectors or intake or fuel rails etc Thanks for any info

Water pump is different:

Might need stronger front suspension springs to carry the added weight of the cast iron heads.
PCM would need to be tuned. Probably run OK but not necessarily ideal. The cast iron heads won't like the high ignition advance programmed with the aluminum heads.
Electronics should connect OK. I think the B-Body has two knock sensors. You only need one, and it's likely that the 96 knock sensor would not be correct (100 Kohms, vs the 94 PCM looking for 4.5 Kohms).
Will have a vented Optispark, vs non vented for the 94. Easy to add the vacuum/vent harness. You would need a new "short" Opti harness because the vented Opti plug is longer than the 94's non-vented.

Would not need to connect anything to the 96's crank position sensor or the EVAP vacuum detection switch, if the B-Body engine has the switch.
Not sure about the fuel rail location of the point where the plastic fuel lines connect to the hard lines. I know the Y-Body has a different setup on opposite side of engine, not sure about B-Body.
