Yes the gears will fit. If you already have the 3.23's in your car, I wouldn't switch. It's not worth the work hassle or money. If you have 2.73's then I would definately do it.

They are actually for my friend, he has 2.73's and bought the gears for 50 bucks. I am thinking of doing them as well, I have 3.23's and will be putting a new motor in soon. It will have a 224/230 cam, ported heads by lloyd, 52mm tb, cai, msd, 2 cats with Y pipe, and magnaflow, 2800 or 3000 stall, plus a few other mods. I don't really want the 3.73's and have heard the 3.42s were pretty good, but if I'm not going to notice much, I won't waste the time and money.

If you already have the 3.23 ratio, then you won't notice much of a difference if any. I would save your money.

When you go from a series 2 gear to a series 3 gear you also have to change your carrier.

Your will need a 3 series carrier. SLP sells takeouts for about 100.

Are you actually swapping the gears, or swapping complete rear ends. Swapping ls1 rear into a lt1 is a little more work, but can be done with a little custom fab.

So your telling me that I should probably go with the hole thing from the shop for 150 instead of going on ebay b/c i'll have to get a carrier to? My friend is really big on lt1's and he said that you don't. I dunno any gm guys here? Not that i don't believe you guys I have just had different replys saying yes they fit no they don't you need a new carrier you don't need a new carrier so I want some dead on facts.

Dead facts:
Auto with 2.73's = 2 series carrier
Auto with 3.23's = 3 series carrier
M6 with 3.42's = 3 series carrier

So if you have 2.73's (2 series) you will have to get a 3 series carrier for the M6 3.42's you want to install. By the way I have an auto with 3.42's. Work great. Times below.
