will 29.5 slicks work??
28" is pretty much the practical limit without body work on the outline of the wheel opening. I ran 28x11.5-15 QTP's, and they grew enough at 120+mph trap speeds to start rubbing on the sheet metal at the front of the wheel opening. Moving the axle back 1/4" minimized the problem, or at least they rubbed on the rubber bumper cover instead.
Just went to 28x10.5-15W ET Drags, and have taken at least 1" off the bumper cover, and need to take maybe 1/2" more. Click on the "Trailer Queen....." link below to see the fitment.
Here is a 29.5 on a 30th SS convertible, and it took significant body work to the fenders and bumper cover:

If you go for the 29.5's, you better have some pretty steep gears.... I'm running 4.11's on a 5K stall.
