wierd starting problem
wierd starting problem
Ok so my Z is acting a little weird. During the afternoon or evening no problems with it at all. In the mornings is where i have the problems,no start just get the click click but does'nt crank over. Inside the car all the acceseries work along with the lights. What is strange is when I get home from school or work it starts like a champ so Im pretty much stumped. Over here in the Bay Area Cali the mornings have barely been getting a lil cool but not by much around 45 degrees so im not sure if thats affecting anything.
any input would help a lot thanks

He is correct.
The clicking comes from not enough current to the starter. The clicking you hear is from the solenoid pulling in and then falling out. Even a good battery may not have enough current to overcome a poor connection. To make matters worse, when a battery gets cold it looses voltage. The colder it gets, the less it puts out. This is why it shows up more when it's colder.
Start by removing the connections at the battery and clean them. Do the same for the positive and negative cluster on the passenger fender and also the ground strap from the frame to the engine on the driver side.
Have the battery load tested by a knowledgable technician to be sure it is ok.
Last, using a voltmeter, check the voltage across the battery while the engine is running to be sure it is around 14 volts to prove the alternator is working properly.
