Headers too close to Valve covers??
Headers too close to Valve covers??
As you can see from the pics the headers are very close to the valve covers. They are about 1/8" and not totally bolted down yet. Will this be a problem with them so close???

I'd consider insulating the space between the primaries and the valve cover. All that heat is going to be coming off the header tube, and straight into the highly heat conductive aluminum valve covers.
Are those the SLP "dual-cat" headers? Is that why they loop up alongside the valve covers?

I would. even more so if he said it
it makes sence though, leaving it open with a breather will almost act like a vacuum leak and lose power. Maybe use some sort of metal hole plug. Maybe he willl chime in and give more accurate info
BTW, thanks for the PM

A breather creates a small, semi-controlled vacuum leak through the PCV system. Nothing the long term fuel corrections can't take care of.
Where are the 3 holes.... I only see 2 in the parts of the cover you included in the picture? OR is there a hole in the cover for the other side?

How would one propose to insulate when there is but 1/8" gap? Since the headers probably get around 1000+- degrees anything that actually touches them will be subject to burning, but when the headers are coated and the covers are also reflective, I believe that you are better off not narrowing the gap any further. Since a coated header can be as close as 1/4 inch from a hose without burning it, I would think that 1/8" gap would be ok, so long as you are not running other than NA.
Food for thought though, when considereing After market covers along with headers. JMHO

and I really like those valve covers!
