Count me in as well. That money would be well spent getting rid of Gm's big mistake.

I would diffently buy one as long as the quality was good. I have only used MSD ignition parts since I've owned the car. I have been waiting for an aftermarket company to make a better Opti or a whole new design.

A message to MSD-Not only look at this post, but all the other posts in the LTI Tech section. Do a search of the word "Opti" and see how many times someone has posted about problems or replacment. There is more than enough LT1 owners out there to validate a product.

I am in. With my new ignition I am sure the opti won't handle the power very long. I would love a new one that is waterproof.

Thumbs up

I'd buy one the first day they were available. I'd have more piece of mind having the reliable bright red MSD upgrade/replacement for the opti-splat!

load it crawled under from my ranting and my rock i dug it up because im sick of my opti problems, 4 optis is enough, in combo with this thread:

http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread...hreadid=153033

Electro motive makes a crank trigger assembly which is badass but you loos some of your dash functionality... ie gauges and its 2400$$$ so you gotta be rich to own it but its adjustable to 0.1 degree of timing and replaces your pcm all together. it can also handle nos setups and up to 30 lbs of boost and you can reprogram it on the fly.. which is kinda cool but only if you want a hard core dragster...

My opti has worked fine so far (knock on wood) but if it does go I would definitely be interested in an alternative.

how hard could it be all you need is a optical sensor that replaces the whole opti spark, 4 or 8 coils, and a pc board that switches the power to the approite coil. the pcm allready knows which cylender is firing or at least which injector to fire (sorry 93 guys) so it should be realy simple to do. a few transistors a coulple coils and a machined optical housing and your done. i would do it myself but i dont have the 2000$ it would take to engeneer it but msd should?

It isn't quite THAT easy...

I would definiatly be in line for a resonably priced alternative.
