let me put it this way.

one night when i was 15, i was riding around town with one of my friends who had an 89 gt with plenty of bolt-on's. it's kinda sad to say, but he was the major influence in my life that converted me into a car lover. anyway, he picked a race with a 97 maroon z, and they started talking. the whole time they where BS'n i was walking around the z in total astonishment. they came to the agreement that i would need to ride with the guy in the z to equal out weight, which was no problem to me. so i hoped in this car like i owned it. now this LT1 was totaly stock, and this would be the first time i got to experience what it had. and wouldn't you know it, the camaro kicked my friends a$$. and from that point on, i was in love. so i saved a while and bought my first car, which i am proud to say was a 95 z28. i had to have a 6-speed, so i settled for a hardtop red z with 100+K miles on it, since it was all i could afford at the time. and this car ran it's a$$ of just like the maroon one i fell in love with 2 years past. it didn't take me long to start moding it, and within a few months i was beating LS1's left and right. but i still wanted more. so the first chance i got i straped the nitrous on it. i was yound and not engine-smart, so i pumped 200 ponies into my weary LT1 with gapped down plugs. and sure as hell, she held it. well not three months after my 500+hp LT1 was built, i screwed around and ran a red light and killed her, damn near killed myself too. but i recouped, but she didn't(may she rest in peace). i was addicted though, and couldn't give the z up. by this time i was out of school and could afford to spend a little more. then i stumbled across the only car that ever really touched me. it was another 95 LT1 T56 car, black w/grey cloth seats. well this car had t-tops and 23,000 ORIGINAL miles. thats right, a true virgen. i bought her off of a stock broker who didn't appreciate the car at all (he also owned a ferrari so i guess i can understand). i jumped back into the mod game and had her running high 12's strong into 40,000 miles. well, murphy's law kicked in, and i blew a head gasket. not to be discouraged, i pulled the engine and started my mad science on it. i dropped in a cc306 cam, afr lt4 heads and an lt4 intake ported to match, along with other mod's which include vaulve train and drive train upgrades. put the engine back in and she ran like a bat out of hell.slapped the nitrous back on her and ran her over corvettes and got to play with a few vipers. then i messed up, in an act of lunacy, i sold her to purchase a 2001 WS6. i loved the way it looked, and the interior was awesome, but it just wasn't me. red with t's and tan leather she was pretty, but i didn't love her. i put a 125 shot wet kit on her and was seriosly sick when i raced her. a big let down. i sold it to go to collage a few months later. now that i am in collage money is tight, but i bought an 87 iroc just to get back into a camaro. and the funny thing is, i like this car better than my TA. now all it needs is an LT1 and it'll be perfect.
so you ask me if i love the LT1, you bet, it's all i have loved....

p.s. sorry for the loooooong post, i just needed to vent

there is a kit to swap from opti to coil packs. With the right amount of $ anything is possible with a good ol' LT1. I love mine to death and hope to be barried in her. If i had to choose a way to did it would be heart attack while driving in the AZ dessert at top speeds in her man.

I'm running just a few tenths off the ls1's around here with the same/more mods(cept I run a small cam cmpared to every1's big cams) and I know the car has so much more potential. I love my lt1.

I ran Valvoline Maxlife in my car and saw considerably higher engine wear in oil analysis. I'm not impressed with any of the Valvoline oils I've seen.

If you can't get a built LT1 to run well, what makes you think that you can get a built LS1 to run well?

Actually, I think it was the Quaker state comercial I lifted that line from

And Patman, I was just messing around. I think it's great that you report the results of real oil tests for all of us. It's a lot better than just hearing what everyones "favorite" oil is all the time with no real knowledge of how it actually performs. Keep up the good work

I love my LT1!!!! I wouldnt ever trade it for something else. The LS1s are nice and I wouldnt mind having one but I wouldnt get rid of the LT1 for it. Dont get me wrong, the LT1 has pissed me off to no end at times and I curse the guys at GM every time I have to work on it but I still wouldnt give it up. I dont look at the car as a GM product anymore. I look at it as ALL MINE!!!!

LONG LIVE THE LT1!!!!

I will be keeping my LT1 because it is payed for and it was the first car I bought out of college. I would like to have a LS1 car but it will sit beside the LT1 car if I do. I plan to keep the car because all the "older" people I work with always talk about the cars they wish they had back.... when I'm their age, I'll be able to show everyone the car I never sold.

PS... I'm making my LT1 faster!!!
