Thats why I made that post on ls2.com about coating the intake manifolds to keep it from heating up. I wouldnt mind pulling mine and having it Jet Hot Coated or Paul Berry coated. Works wonder for LTs, Steve Quinn coats his. Another stuff I was thinking is the what ever they use to coat pistons for racing to keep the temp down on those.

I love my LT1!! The throw back feel, the sound, the look, 5.7L 350ci. I hope to keep it forever, but you never no what will happen in the future. I would love an LS1 TA, but I dont think I could get rid of the LT1.

Swain Tech did mine (thermal barrier bottom, an emitter coating on top) for ~$200. I'll have to look at my reciepts for exact cost cause I sent headers and heads to them as well. But I'm thinking it was right at 200.

Stuff works very well... intake stays just warm to the touch.

i think the stock LT1's are fast as hell, with a couple mods, can keep up with 98+ws6's etc. i wouldn't ever trade in my LT1, but rather get 2 cars :P

Yeah, but that's rare also. There's plenty of guys running around on stock bottom end head and cam package cars. I think it was just my cars time to go, not to mention that it detonated at about 6000 rpm on the dyno. That's the reason that ring land went.

The bug will bite you after a while of living on bolt on's.

The bug has already bit me, I road in a bolt on Viper, back in 01 when I was 17, first real 11 sec car I rode in, then that same day I rode in a 122+mph full interior six speed ls1 382 car, needless to say, I was hooked from that point on. Then hanging out at Motor Sport Tech hearing nothing but some of the nastiest cammed cars ever, I knew what had to be done. I'll be happy for a while with 117 motor and 130 on gas. I dream big I guess.

Just to add some BS to this post. I have a 383 stroked LT4, supercharged and spent $35k with the mods. The first run this year was an 11.2@120mph. Now after doing all of this work a guy next to me in line with an LS1, headers, cam, heads and a few other small mods runs an 11.0. I love the LT4 but this kinda sucks! I also have a 2000 SS obviously with an LS1 and it almost makes me wish I would of done that one instead of the 97.

You mean to say a 383 LT4 with a D1SC can only trap 120mph? You sure your car is running right? I thought a combo like that should trap 135-140+mph with ease
