I wouldn't trade my LT1 for an LS1... no way. I like the LT1 looks better, and I like the platform better.

Far better valvetrain? Pass that blunt....

I also have a 2000 SS obviously with an LS1 and it almost makes me wish I would of done that one instead of the 97.

Somethings wrong with your car, you should be hitting 10's. Get some tractions or find your engine problem. Im betting the Ls1 had better traction. Its not magically faster.

Love my Z and with 131,000 miles it has had it share of problems but I dont give up, when something breaks I fix it. I never plan on selling this car but do want an LS1 as my daily driver and keep the LT1 in the garage to keep the miles from getting so high and just drive it on nice days.

A Hot Cam car will beat a stock LS1 easily.

Im not sure that a hotcammed LT1 alone will beat an LS1.

Hotcam + headers, exhaust, CAI is faster than an LS1. Dont underestimate the LS1. Its pretty quick. My buddy with a stripper LS1 beat me with a cc305, shorties, and a small exhaust leak.

IM not sure exactly how much worse the leak was making it run. I never raced him when it was running right. The car was since totalled.

I certainly love my car! Bought it brand new and still have it...and trust me...that say's a lot! The only other car that I kept for a long time was my '92 GTA.

A well set up stock headed hot cam/CC305 car can hit 12.00-12.50s easy. That should be able to beat on a stock ls1 prety bad unless its untuned. A goiod running bolt on LT1 should be able to spank on LS1 cars.

The first car I owned was a 68' AMX stock 390 SB. After some tinkering it was set for racing oval but I still miss how easy it was to take care of. I'm hoping to find another one next year...the true project money-sucking-can't-do-enough-to-it car

As for my LT1 - its my fix for a muscle car and the only one on the market I fit into like they designed it for me - an anomaly when your 5'2" and 100 lbs. Ordered it, waited 8 months for delivery, only has 20K miles on it and never driven in the rain.
Its a true keeper and in an odd way - back to basics.

You mean to say a 383 LT4 with a D1SC can only trap 120mph? You sure your car is running right? I thought a combo like that should trap 135-140+mph with ease

That's not what I said. I said my 383 Stroker is running 11.2@120mph. Now there are a few things that could be done to improve that but I drive this car mainly on the street. I could remove the front sway bar, drop some weight by getting rid of my amps, DVD, PS2 and all that crap. I am not getting good traction, so going from ET streets to ET drags would help. I only have a 2800 stall converter. Going larger would help. And there are a few other things which would help. In my opinion getting to mid 11s isn't that hard but dropping 10ths from there is a lot of money.

I dont have any problems with any bolt on LS1's. I couldn't be happier with what I've gotten out of my bolt on, stock head, hotcammed LT1 so far. I love this car, mods are a lot cheaper for the LT1, personally I think it looks better than an LS1 Z and of course it sounds much better than an LS1 too.

Yes, I forgot to mention how much I like the look of the LT1 Z28's. I remember when I was ordering my '97, it was February of '97 and I had already seen what the new LS1's were going to look like since they were coming out that summer. As soon as I saw the front end of the LS1 Z28's I called in my order that day for my LT1. No offense, but I still see "catfish" everytime I see a '98+ Camaro / Z28. The front end of the '93-'97 Camaro looks more "Sharkish" to me. Hmm, shark... catfish..., I'll take the shark please.
