Question Whinny fuel pump noise when gas gets low

I know i need to replace it soon but could this also be the reason why im getting a fuel smell from the drivers rear wheel area? I just replaced the EVAP canister and the fuel filter and also checked the hoses and they seem fine. Thanks

I thought it just always whines. A lot of people have been complaining about that gas smell from the vapor canister area. Anyone know why the hell it does this, I checked the canister and all its lines and they look good.

Cool

The fuel pump uses gasoline too cool itself also, if the gas level is getting low, the pump is probably getting hot. I wouldn't go below a 1/4 tank, thats about a gallon and a half...

Also consider that there is less gas around the pump to insulate the noise.

I doubt that the noise and smell are related. Maybe your gas cap is not holding pressure.

Redwolf said something about the fuel pump starting to go bad. What are the signs of this. I thought it just one day shut down. At least thats how it worked in my old caprice.
