Talking 4.10's to much for an A4?

Hey guys. I have 3.73's & FLP Level 4 trans with a 3600 stall now as of an hour ago. Think the 4.10's might be a bit much? I am afraid my car might shift into overdrive right before the traps. Any suggestions?

Thanks again...

i think thats way too much for an a4 tranny. 3-73 should be plenty, and dont use od, put the lever in d or 2 to start with, then move to 3, and stay there. od allows for the car to gain speed while the rpms stay the same. this is not good for the track. also, the shift points are slightly different for od

I've had 4.10's in mine for over 2 years now. I have NO regrets about putting them in. Up until a year ago, it was my only car...which meant it was a daily driver.
If you want to know the performance potential of a 4.10 equipped car, just check out the times mine runs. Remember, this is a stock exhaust manifold car with very little else done to it other than the 3200 stall converter.
Yes, I'm definately glad I didn't cut myself short with the 3.73's

It really depends on the setup, tire size, and hp. I switched from 3.73's to 4.10's last year and I do regret it. On teh street you really dont notice a difference. but at the track I lost mph and ET because now i'm just a bit too far up in the rpms. I turn just over 6000 thru the traps.

I will be going back to the 3.73's when I have some free time to swap em back in.

IMHO, if you are at the track constantly, and don't care about drone or MPG, then yes, if you care about htese, then no.

Just IMHO

Well I am just sticking to 3.73's I have the motive 3.73's now but they are shot due to a gear install gone wrong. I am going to put in Richmonds this time. Also this will be my first gear install that I will do myself under the close guidence of a good friend who has done many. I am now going to learn everything I can so I can do these jobs myself. That way if something is wrong I can only blame myself & not have to worry about incompitant shops that could really care less about paying attention to detail....

Thanks for the reply's. Maybe after I know how to do these gears, down the road I may try 4.10's...

The awesome thing about Richmonds is if you ever break 'em, they'll send you out a brand new set, no questions asked. I had an idiot install mine the first time around, and yeah, of course they broke on the first decent launch. The wear pattern was horrible, it was really obvious that they broke due to an improper installation. I called Richmond to see if they offered some type of warranty, they said "send them back and we'll check em out". About a week later, a new set showed up on my doorstep. The same thing with my buddy too, they sent him a new set no questions asked when he broke his
