I pulled power from the ignition-on wire for my stereo. No problems since the deck draws the majority of its power from the always-hot wire.

 

Okay can somebody tell me a location and color of the wire??

 

Any wire (before fuse) in the fuse box under the hood. The big red one is the hot lead.

 

Check out this link to brent frankers page. This is for an alarm install, but scroll down and there is a picture of the back of the fust block. There is arrows pointing to the switched power off the block.

There is a spade lug in the fuse panel at the end of the dash marked "IGN".... that is "switched" +12V power. Here's where it is on my 94. There is a spade connector crimped onto the orange wire. Just push it into the fuse panel. 96's may be a little different... I know some of the fuses are in different locations.

 

I have the wire ready to hook up except it's in the engine bay... which wire should I tap for the 12v switched power in the underhood fuse box???
