When valve seals rub on the springs=smoke!!
I swaped out AFR's(195cc LT4's) springs for CC 987's to accomadate my cam thinking there would be no issues. 1500 miles later the engine was billowing blue smoke like no other. did leak down test(3% leakage on all), and compression test (210psi all around). this eliminated the lower end at least. At this point it was seals or guides. Replaced all the valve seals with CC teflon valve seals(smailler diameter) and the car does not smoke. some of the rubber seals were on there sung and others were like the ones pictured below when i pulled off the spring. the only thing can think of that could be the culprit is the inner spring rubbed and grabbed the seals and casued them to ride with the valve. in retrospect i wish AFR would have used teflon seals instead of rubber, since there only 33bucks.there a pain to put on because of how tight the seal fits around the valve....

How tight did those first seals fit on the valve bosses? If they are too lose, I suppose they will tend to come off like yours, even without spring contact, but I don't know how tight they should be.

i had problems on both banks of cylinders with seals riding with the valves. all the rubber seals were a snug fit around the valve itself. it was where the seals fit around the guides (bronze threads in the pics) there was problems. a few of the seals i had to pry off with a common screwdriver off the guide, some pullled off by hand and then there were ones riding with the vlave, not sealing at all casuing the motor to smoke....
