When ordering a fuel pump....
Im looking to replace to fuel pump on my DD LT1...its dead but lasted 161K. Im thinking the Walbro is my best bet but i see them listed as just a pump..then a kit? which do i need? what its in the kit? I was under the impression all i needed was a pump and strainer..? any help
I'm assuming the kit is Racetronix's kit that includes the walboro pump. This kit contains it's own relays and power straight to the battery rather than running power through the factory harness. I believe it's all plug and play still. I have it in my car, but I didn't install it. You can buy just the pump and be fine, buying the kit just ensures no voltage drop on the pump. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

Racetronix wiring harness
I found the wiring harness the easiest part of this install. It is a Delphi product, so you can be sure of quality, and ease of install, since they are who made the entire harness for your car(They are the OEM manufacturer).
Why would you need it? If the cars age, and condition of the original harness has degraded, it will ensure a constant good connection, without voltage loss. Because it is a harness that runs all the way to your battery, and has it's own relay, it is much more reliable than the OEM setup. You may also consider just replacing the OEM relay.
Hope this helps
