AC 1218 oil filter

I know people are running them, but heres my problem. I took off my oil cooler adaptor and am running the filter against the block. The 1218 gasket seems to barley fit the contact area on the block. The gasket seems to small. Is it suppose to fit like this, and will I have a oil leak under pressure. Thanks Eric L

I will never use another ACdelco filter. I think you should go to the nearest napa and get a wix, napa, purolator or motorcraft filter.

thet filter should work as long as you have the right thread adapter....its the same as the short one just longer.

Ok, thanks. It just seemed that the gasket didnt have a good contact area. But this is the first time I put a filter on it without the oil cooler adaptor. Whats the beef with Ac filters, ive had good luck with them on daily drivers. My race car uses a system 1 though. Thanks Eric L

I have seen more than one collapse......

on regular cars..... few weeks ago my buddies daughters car collapsed a filter AC. its a toyota car....replaced it and it did it again....

I have done the same on my car before too......I wil never use another one. The inside is all plastic, the others are metal

Thanks for the info. I am using the adaptor that was under the cooler. It was the same part number as a gen 1 sbc adaptor. Seems to fit fine. It was just the diameter of the filter that bothered me. Thanks again, Eric L
