If you feel like you need more power then just add a cut out instead of replaceing the exhaust you have

He has BBK Shorties.

And NO, I would not suggest going to LTs. I did it, dont think there is that much improvement...

for his application shorty headers/3" catback will work ok.

im in the process of changing my exhaust system from
rksport headers/ORP/borla TO
jet hot LTs/3" true duals,xpipe,bullets

sure i will gain Hp/Tq but not significant, im doing it becuause i want better sound and in the future i want build a BIG stroker

long as all the other SC guys are here...

When is the stock 2.75" I-pipe a restriction? My exhaust is made from the stock pipe, but I'm not really running anything big and the only muffler is a 3" bullet in the middle. If I change exhausts I'll probably go with Trey's dual setup (he has SLP shorties too)...what do you think?

Sorry if anyone thinks I'm jacking the thread, but I thought the original ? had been answered sufficiently...

I personally think the stock I-pipe works well up to a bigger H/C set up. I have run it with the LT4H/I/HOT cam and shorties (BBKs) and Yank ST3500 with the A4 to 89/109MPH.

I have also had several other systems on the car that were larger with the same set up except exhaust design and the car still ran the same.

I will say the best all around system I had on the car was the stock set up and a cutout. Loud and the track and quiet all the rest of the time. I thought it was too heavy but not much changed when I took all that off excep the cops pulled me over...

I know dyno results show cat backs making more power but on the track is where I race and I have not seen much difference in the 9 different set ups I have had...maybe i just didnt make the right decision 9 times....

Thanks Shon. I have to say I have also changed my exhaust a good bit and never once noticed a difference. I have had the bullet on my car chopped off right under the seat. That junk was super loud. I have had a 3'' cutout and my regular catback system. I can say that on nitrous with the cutout open it felt a little quicker than the other setups Ive had but not on motor.
