Wheels Need advice on fitment

Had originally posted this in Appearence forum, as I'm not too sure where it should go:

Looking for some advice. I have a '95 TA and was looking at some CCW wheels (they're in Daytona, I'm in Pt St Lucie when I'm in the U.S.), they have some great looking wheels (a bit "high" end so it's a tough decision) most of their street wheels are 19", not really crazy about that but they really look good. What I'm wondering is can I fit a 315 on a 19" (rears, probably go 275 up front) without problems? Also, I occaisionaly pull a small trailer with a bike or 2, tounge weight about 80-100lbs. I've replaced the stock springs w/cargo coils as the stocks weren't cutting it last road trip. Also they've got some nice looking road race and drag wheels; what, if any problems would arise using them as "street" wheels?

Other than "looks" (if that's wht you think looks good), there is absolutely no benefit in going to 19's on a 4th Gen. Even 18's are questionable, with the constraints of the "solid axle" rear end, and its limited ability to comply with road surface. Corvettes and Porsches love big wheels, but they have the supspension that can handle them. You will be faced with poor traction and harsh ride due to the very low profile sidewall, and the rims will be exposed to serious damage from potholes. Add the fact that you are towing a trailer, and I think you are headed in the wrong direction - end of sermon.

What "fits" depends on the offset of the wheels, and the outside diameter of the tires. A 315/30-19 will be almost 1" larger in diameter than the stock tires. That raises the back of the car slightly and pushes the wheel further up into the wheel well. A 315/25-19 will be about 1/2" smaller than stock. With the right offset on a 19x11 wheel, a 315/25-19 should fit with minimal rubbing, assuming you do any of the inner fender hammering, jounce bumper bracket grinding and body-over-axle recentering that many of us had to do to fit 315/35-17's.

In the front, with the correct offset on a 19x9 or 19x9.5" wheel, a 275/30-19 will fit just as well as a 275/40-17 fits on a stock WS6 or SS.
