What's the best LT header for a LT1?
Whats GMMG? Sorry, man been out of the loop for a while. I have heard sound clips of some LT1's running Magnaflow and it sounds NICE. Haven't heard SLP loudmouth, Corsa, or American Thunder yet, but I'm hoping to find some more sound clips and I'll read into some more setups.
There are lots of good choices for good quality headers really.
All depends what your doing, and what you want to spend
Hooker has made a proven performer for YEARS!!
Hedman is another good choice!
Kooks are WAY over priced!!
I dont know nothing about LPP's headers.........so cant give my 2 cents there
I am running set of Coated Hedman stepped headers with detachable collectors on my LT1 It dont see the street anymore

The highest priced parts are not always the best performers! IMO

longtubes wont pass california's smog because they move the cats, sorry, you're stuck with shorties or mids. And LPP is where it's at, kooks tried sueing them, but there is too much of a diffrence between them. The 1-3/4" kooks don't have problems, but the LPP's are STEPPED to 1-7/8'', and kooks has the same issues, and not everyone has these issues. After seeing how much pissing and moaning and being as immature as a 16 year old highschool ricer, I will never buy anything from them, and before anyone flames me for saying that, go read they're posts in the thread on ls1tech.

If LPP actually did take their headers and reverse engineer the design, I can understand them being pissed. Whether or not they would have any legal recourse, I have no idea. As far as I know, there have been nothing but verbal allegations from both sides. I don't believe Kooks has actually taken any legal action. All I know is that the LPP's so closely resemble Kook's design that I have trouble believing it's nothing more than a coincidence.
From the sound of it, I should buy the LPPs, but until they make one that's compatible with all the emissions controls(which according to what I read on the LS1tech thread isn't going to happen), it won't happen for me. Damn Colorado, dropping all emissions regs for 75% of the state while they made the Denver metro area's standards even more strict.
I just hope the new president doesn't force all states to conform to the strict emissions standards that states like California have. Being from Texas, you never really worry, but the plans for alternative energy and "climate change" initiatives being touted by this administration have me a little worried. I just want LPP to fix the fitment issues and restart production so I can pick up a pair.
I think TPIS headers are the best choice, and granted I did them a number of years ago. They fit very good, have good plug access, and stay tight to the bottom of the car giving excellent ground clearance. They were also easy to install. I had a custom y-pipe made to get a good fit as well.
I can't believe this LPP company can sell 321 stainless so cheap. I have used it at work for certain high temperature projects, and it is not cheap.
As far as GMMG, that is the cat-back I use. Really love the sound, and yes it is bit expensive but if you can get in on a group buy then helps reduce the cost. I think I paid $650 with shipping.
