Question Just wondering because...

Just wondering because when I installed my new throttle-body top plate [from MBA], I noticed some oil residue in there. Is this anyhthing to be worried about?

No, that oil residue is normal. The PCV system allows some oil fumes into the TB.

Pretty much normal for there to be some oil in there. It is drawn in from the passenger side valve cover.

What is the advantage of the bypass, I never really understood it?

It helps keep intake charges cooler. Engine coolant is not cool at all, routing it through the TB heats the incoming air charge.

Question Well...

So you do mean coolant as in, antifreeze/water mix, right? I just don't understand why the coolant and the oil aren't mixing in there;

or are they seperated within the TB?
