Question what to swap in for the Opti...

Alright...Im getting really tired of this crappy design GM came up with for our distributors...I have a 94Z that obviously has the non-vented Optispark . Ive replaced it now and found out my problem is my coolant line in the throttle-body...the LH side one (the in tube). It has a leak (hole) and thats dripping down to the Opti...which I think has destroyed my second Opti. So..Im going to do a by-bass to even eliminate the possibility of it happening again..keeping coolant from entering that area anymore (cause it also gets on the serpentine belt and flings coolant all over)

Now..what can I use instead of the OptiSpark setup? Ive heard of a Delteq system or something..is that the replacement of the Opti? How much in TOTAL am I looking for...for parts and everything? How many variations of this system are there? Like for my LT1..how would I know which model or which one to buy? Are these easy peasy to install..say..like equal to doing spark plugs? Do I have to buy all new wires as well for my plugs cause the lengths would be different? Any info or even better..prices and pictures of people having swapped the crappy Opti setup for one of these would be awsome! What are the cons of these systems if any...like are they suseptible (sp? lol) to heat problems or anything? quality of them..longevity? thanks guys!

About $500 and instal is very easy, so I've heard. A buddy of mine got a Delteq for his car and loves it, he said the install was as easy as it was described to him.

Agreed. Delteq is the way to go! I am debating on doing this myself. However I am in the process of throwing in a 383 and since I have a 94 as well, I need to upgrade to a vented opti in order to run the cloyes timing chain. I dont want to spend money on a new opti and money on the delteq system as well. Is there any other way to go around not switching to the vented setup if I want a stronger timing chain?

P.S. Sorry for thread jacking. Also, our other option is the VTCC system. Go to thunderracing.com and check it out. Basically the same thing as delteq.
