what stroke to go with
what stroke to go with
I am looking at rebuilding my 93 lt1 camero.I am wanting to put a 383 stroker kit or sumthing like that. I would like some suggestions on what kits to go with.. OR even if there is a better stroke to go with.
Re: what stroke to go with
A 383 is a great street engine. Lots of piston/rod choices that don't involve custom parts. What are your goals with this engine? Nitrous, blower? There are lots of different kits available.

Yea i know i need to figure out what i am looking to get out of my car my goal is to get it up to about 450hp...i have looked at some super chargers but that is in the future.what is a good place to order stroker kits online???
Re: what stroke to go with
Nope. There isn't any real difference between them. If you're going for 450 hp, I would look at a Scat 9000 kit. You can usually get the whole kit for under $1000 bucks. That should be more than enough for a street driven 383. If you want to do a blower, it would probably be a better idea to go with a 355 kit for lower compression, but I wouldn't go that route unless you are definately going to install a supercharger, and you can have the blower ready by the time the engine is installed.
As far as where you can buy rotating assemblies, check with the board vendors, they can hook you up pretty good. Combination Motorsports, Thunder Racing, TByrne, etc...

Re: what stroke to go with
A 3.75" stroke seems to be the best all around choice. The 3.80 GM crank amounts to the same thing but may make piston compression height a little tricky and that crank is your only choice in that stroke.
You seem to be talking about a bargain buildup, but if you want a medium to high end rotating assy. go to Callies directly. I have bought a couple from them and have gotten great service with knowledgable advice and decent prices.
