Georgia has them....having trouble passing mine...and it is done by the state....they just aren't the ones who regulate it, it's some clean air act stupid thing..I dont care...i just cant pass it

As long as you live in the fairly rural areas, I wouldn't worry about it in IL. It's mostly just for the Chicago area because of the large number of vehicles. Last thing the IL counties/state are going to do is **** off the farmers. Just think what would happen if they tried to make the farmers take their 1979 beatup pickups in for emissions testing.

Texas has emissions testing (severe) for people living anywhere near Houston, Dallas/Ft. Worth and I think Austin (?)....... Counties at least TWO counties away from the big cities are okay... anyone who lives or works anywhere near the metro area is being tested....

This is thanks to the EPA -- federal level. You can expect this to be the case in ALL states within a couple of years... I suggest finding a way to make your car pass, or moving to a rural area.
