Yes I agree if you took a lt1 and had it completely changed into and ls-1 through whatever miracle shop you know of them there is reason to believe the ls1 wouldnt be mod for mod faster anymore. I wish my lt1 had 15 degree heads. You sound like the 4.6 mustang guys who try to explain to me how thier car really is "faster" because I have over a liter of displacement on them.
Did I ever say "turn the LT into an LS motor with a miracle shop" No you jackass. All I said was that a heads/cam lt1 vs a heads/cam ls1 Both with same flowing heads and same cam why would it be faster? Sorry for sounding like all the mustang guys I guess dumba**

LT1? LS1? Who cares, in the end it's the same car. It's still a Camaro, it's still a Firebird.

I like my LT1, I like LS1's. If I had the money I would probably have both, but I don't.

Best explanation so far. Both have minor advantages over each other but not much. Both are awesome engines nonetheless.

I like both motors and they both have lots of potential. But when you start going for big reliable power, i'll take an lt1 over the ls1 due to the iron block. If you aren't into modifying your car much or just want to go the bolt on route, you can make close to 400 hp on an ls1 with just bolt ons. Lt1s are limited in their bolt on power. But if you wanna make 1000 hp in an ls1, you will have to get an ls iron block out of a truck first. Then you can play with the big dog lt1.

You have got to be about the 100th LT1 owner I have seen make that same argument. I mean really, lets get back to reality here. How many F-body owners (percentage wise) will ever and I mean EVER make more then say 500-600 rwhp? 1%? maybe less? And the LS1 engine has been proven to be able to handle that kind of power.

So for 99% of us the iron block engine means exactly two things. Jack and (well you know the second).

It costs lots and lots of $$$ to create and maintain a 1000 HP car which is why so very few ever do it. But for your basic heads/cam LS1 with a 100 shot of N20 on top the LS1 motor does just fine even without an iron block. Just like the LT1 does just fine with an iron block.

The TPI's from the 80's, LT1's, LT4's, LS1, LS2, LS7, I have respect for all of them. My dad had an 87 vette with the tuned port, and I thought it ran pretty well. Call me crazy
