What roller cam for AFR 195 street heads??
What roller cam for AFR 195 street heads??
I have a zz4 355 sbc with forged srp flat top pistons, eagle forged rods, and gm forged crank and I'm trying to find the right cam to run.
The heads are the 65cc ones. And I plan on running link bar hyrdaulic roller lifters so I don't need to worry about the dog bones on the oe style coming out. I don't really ever want to take this above 6500 rpms. I was thinking about this Howard's cam: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hrs-180265-12 because it's good for the rpm range but if I can get more power out of something a little bit bigger I'll take it. Thank you

Re: What roller cam for AFR 195 street heads??
Cam selection is intensely personal and dependent on a zillion factors.
Do you have an automatic or a manual transmission? If auto, what torque converter? What rear gear ratio?
Do you want a cam with a nasty chop at idle? Nice and smooth? Somewhere in the middle?
How much do you care about low-RPM drivability? Surge?
How do you use the car? Street, drag, both? If drag, do you have ET or MPH goals?
I know close to nothing about what’s out there in the LT1 market (beyond Lloyd Elliot’s excellent offerings); you’ll have to depend on others there. But even the people who know aren’t going to be able to give you a useful recommendation without the above information, so let’s start there. 🙂

Per the above recommendation, take a look at the Lloyd Elliott offerings. You can even contact him with your specific requirements, head flow info, etc., and he can provide a custom cam if required.
