It lets you know that your seals are bad, and you need to replace the waterpump.

Get it fixed right away, or you will be changing your opti as well

No. The weep hole is there to let you know the pump is bad. Replace it. Waterpumps are cheap.
Do the Opti while you're in there if you can afford it.

What else would be "a good idea" to replace? It is a 93 and I am now at 130,000 miles.

Thanks for the help.

Re: What is the purpose of the WP weep hole?

Yeah the waterpump has two seals on the shaft. When the first one lets go it drips out the weep hole. If it werent there and the second seal went bad it would squirt out the shaft at a far greater rate.

Some lazy people weld/seal the weep hole shut when they start leaking, but thats not a smart idea considering at somepoint the other seal will go bad as well.

Throw in an Electric Waterpump while you're at it.
