what does it takes to beat an LS1?
Here is my mods and times:
1) ported my own intake, everything else stock 13.6 @102 even stock airbox!
2) Added hooker longtube headers, exhaust cut-out, ripper shifter, msd wires and a shift light ran 13.2 @ 106MPH on street tires and 13.0 at 107mph on ET streets.
I smoked stock LS1's all day at the track to the point people were saying I had ported heads or a cam or something. LT1's are very capable as well as LS1's. A modded LS1 is a handful and you will need to dig deeper to take one out but it can be done. All in all, as long as it's in the Chevy family I don't mind losing a race.

LS1 cars respond extremely well to the bolt on mods. I don't see where 325 is a long shot. I gained .9 at the track and 6 mph before I did my gears, which gave me another .2 and 2mph. Granted my car had a blown/clogged cat before hand.
Just run him. Street races almost always come down to the driver anyway. He could spin coming out and you could hook or the other way around. I'd expect him to win right now since the only two power adding mods you have are the CAI and cutout. If you want to beat him go with the headers, exhaust and tune. I'd think that would give you a decent chance.

I would think a cold air intake, longtube headers, tb bypass, 160 stat, drag radials, 410 gears, and a PCM for less tune would do it, the mods will put you at around 315 to 325 rwhp, the tires and gears will put you way over the top, he will have to do all the bolt ons to keep up. Most of this stuff you can buy used on this forum pretty cheap, except for the rear and tune. The rear gears and install would be around 700.00, the tune about 175.00.
Bottom of the line, this guy probably needs at least headers to beat the LS1 friend of his. If not gears and headers and maybe a little EWP action. I gained 8 RWHP from my EWP. Might be worth a shot, but as for you getting your but kicked... Its gonna be a close race either way so this guy is way too confidant. Just don't race him from a dig

My friend owns a 2000 trans-am(not the ram air) i think stock its 305 horses, auto,he only has a K&N air filter in it,he says his car will beat the crap out of mine.Mine its a 97z28,6M,SLP CAI,airfoil,LT4 km,1.5 drop, and cutout. What else should i get done to my car to win this race?what times you guys think we run?
I think im going to do 4.11 gears and headers,i found a shop that will do my gears for $250(gears and labor)and my mechanic will do the headers for $100bucks,im thinking of getting some shorties,i should be able to take him with this mods.I 'll post my new times soon!
sounds like a crazy enough deal... all I can say is that I'll never let another man touch my rearend ever again. The first guy that did my rear really messed things up. It was tight for a while, then it felt really loose.... and then When I took the car back to him he acted like it was myfault things went bad. Be careful who you let work on your car... unless it's a true friend or a relative.... I would be weary.
Let me also mention that gears alone gost 200 and insall kits are another 120 or so.
250... installed with parts is fishy...

(Unless you ride around with your cutout open all the time... in that case chop off your muffler lol...)
