Re: What do you guys think about these pistons?
Not to get too flamed here.
but Duh
I know you get what you pay for. I was asking more along the lines for people who might have used them and had good success with them. Not for general thoughts like you get what you pay for or let the buyer beware. Last time i checked this was engine tech not general thougths on life 101
SO to rephrase the question.
Has anyone used these pistons?
Have you had good or bad results?
Some of us don't have stupid money like others to buy $700 pistons to build a $4500 engine for a car that is 10 years old.

Re: What do you guys think about these pistons?
They are a good low priced piston and will be fine for a stock rebuild or a mildly modded motor. Suitable for what you are building? Can't say, 'cause you didn't specify.

Re: What do you guys think about these pistons?
Good point that i did not say what it is for.
I am going to just do a basic stock rebuild
a gm 845 cam, ported heads, ported intake, 30 lb injectors, 1.6 RR. that is basically it.
I just wanted to know if there was a major problem with using them. If i could afford it i would go for a set of forged SRP.
I figured that these TRW pistons would be better then a stock Gm piston

I second this opinion also.
Re: What do you guys think about these pistons?
Those pistons should be substantially stronger than stock. Get the speed pro rings to match and you will be set. Are you getting press fit pins or floating? I would get the floating ones myself along with a set of lightweight forged I-beam rods. Or you could just reuse the stock rods with pressed pins and new rod bolts, but new rods are a better way to go, they are the most stressed part in the engine. I've been running speed pro (blower) pistons for about 6 years now with no problems at all.
Re: What do you guys think about these pistons?
How much does a set of floating rods cost?
Who makes a good set?
At first i was thinking of just reusing the stock rods, having them reconditioned and new rod bolts installed.
Thanks for the comments on the pistons
