they make your car sound as it is without a muffler, and a gain about the same as an exhaust, its good to have an electric cutout for liek i think around $100-200 and it can be shut on and off if cops are around and emissions by just pressing a switch

i have an electronic cutout setup on my car, check page two of the first link in my sig, and the pictures should pretty much answer the majority of your questions. Its essentially a muffler by-pass

It's a valve that put after the headers you can open and close to bypass your exhaust.

Re: What are Cut OUTS?

It's a section of pipe with a piece comming out of it at an angle that either has a removable cap that's held on with bolts and wing nuts like a header collecter and some insted have a butterfly thats either manual(cable opperated) or electric wich is opperated by a switch from inside the car. Usually mounted after the headers before the exhaust and at the track where noise is not an issue you uncap it or open the butterflys so your exhaust flows freely out of it insted of your catback, duals, etc.
