Not familiar with those heads. Shouldn't your RWHP be higher? If its the heads that are holding you back, I'd take that into consideration before selecting a cam. JMHO

Gallant Technical Performance heads out of Texas? Every vendor sells them. They Flowed decent. 260ish int/ 190ish exh.. Don't have exact #'s in front of me. I had it dynod without a tune & it dynoed 345 RWHP... I have not updated my HP in the sig. I just want a bigger cam....... I think...

If you don't plan on another cam after this swap, then definately spend a little extra on a custom grind. You have the flow numbers on your heads right?

Brett Baur(sp?) or Jon Overton (sp?) can hook you up.

That's what I'd do, especially for ported heads. Heck, I'm even thinking about it with stock heads.

I'd go for the 847, a buddy of mine had the 847 with gtp stage 2 heads and hooker longtubes, he went the best of 12.19 at 115 mph. I believe his car put down 389 rwhp, not too sure of the tq numbers tho.

Not enough info. How do you use the car? What rockers do you plan to use? What springs do you have and are you willing to change them. Etc.

The Car is a nice day car & mostly comes out to go to the track. I may be getting a deal on a trailer so I don't have to drive it to the track anymore. If I said it was a going out car I'd be lying. I guess it is more of a race car then street car in the way I have been using it over the past couple of years.. I can still drive it on the street if it were faster... Anyway the cam will be just something to go a bit faster with until I rebuild the other LT1 block that is sitting in the garage. I have no plans for that project to happen anytime soon so I was looking just for more power out of my present H/C set up. As far as springs I am running a nice dual coil on the GTP's now that came with the heads for High Lift.. However I may still throw a new set on anyway. I am running the 1.6 RR that came with theh Hot Cam kit & would like to still be able to utilize them. So how I use the car is mostly to go fast. The wife hates driving in it now... but I may still take her out to a nice dinner to....... McDonalds every once in awhile in it..

Going all out huh? j/k

Yea, with our cars, you need to watch every other expense

What are you doing in the future? changing the bottom end?

I have an LT1 block sitting in the garage that I will "Someday" punch out to 383 with forged internals set up for spray or boost.. but with the new baby coming in May that project is on a definate hold pattern. I wanna do a cam again cause I kinda enjoy working on the motor & am a bit bored... That is basically the only reason. I am saving for a 12 bolt & wanna get the car dyno tuned so I have to decide which to dyno tune the car with. A bigger cam or stick with the Hot cam... Anyway knowing me I wont do any of the stuff I want.

Question

Looks as if the results to this poll are the way I figured.. The only thing I am afraid of with the Custom grind is the people informing me of what I should run. Who or what vender would actually know what would be the best custom #'s on the cam for my setup? I have talked to so many "LT1 Experts" about various things with my car only to find out they didn't really have a clue as to the best route I should take with me setup...

Thanks Guys in advance..

Not to sound cocky, but I'd venture to say we've ground more LT1 cams than anybody, including many for people with setups similar to yours. We try and keep track of everybody's results, so we've got a good real world database for this stuff. Give us a call, ask for Seth, Sam, or Dave.

It's not being cocky if you can back it up.... right? I sent your sales an e-mail about what I may be looking for.
Thanks

I dealt with Combination Motorsports. Great company to deal with. Except they're on Dayum West coast time.
