What Cam to Install?

Hey Everyone,

This is my first post on here so I may not do very well but I am definitely going to try. I have a 1995 Camaro Z28/SS Clone LT1 and am wanting to put in a new cam setup. I have heard good things about the GM847 but not sure what to go with and know absolutely nothing on the subject or what else I would need to do with a Cam install. Here is what I have on my car so far . .

Moser 3.73 Gears, 4L60E Trans with Shift Kit, Thermostat at 160, XL 24pd Injectors, 58mm Edelbrock Throttle Body, Torque converter @ 2100, De screened MAF, Mid Length BBK Headers into a Super 80 Series Flowmaster Exhaust, Catalytic converter is Eliminated, Barry Grant 125 Wet Shot of Nitrous, Tuner Decides on Rev limiter (usually at 6200 RPM), Shift points and Idle. I also have K&N Cold Air Intake and 1.6 roller rockers. Disable speed limiter, AIR and CCP codes with Power Tune. With the Tuner I have a Nitrous Tune as well as a Naturally Aspirated Tune.

The suspension consists of a 1.7" Drop with Eibach Sportline Performance Springs, Eibach Pro Damper Shock Absorbers, Eibach Anti Roll Kit Performance Sway Bars and reinforced frame. I have the car sitting on BF Goodrich G-Force Super Sport tires on Corvette C5 Rims ( 18 in the back and 17 in the front).

Please respond if anyone has any information on the subject and any other recommendations on adding HP and Performance.

Thanks,

Russell

The GM847 is useless on a stock dispacement stock head LT1. You need a way bigger stall to use that cam. The stock bottom end won't last shiffting @ 6800+ which is where that cam makes power. For a stock engine I would recommend either the comp 503 cam or AI makes a nice cam for stock head/auto trans setup.

The specs on the cc503 are 224/230 .536/.544
The AI cam is 226/234 .569/.570
The lift #'s are calculated with a 1:6 ratio rocker arm.

I would also look into getting a 3600-3800 stall for your car. In will turn it into a whole new animal and keep good driveability.

I really enjoyed my LT4 Hotcam kit. Needs a tune to run right.

LE. AI custom would be my vote. If you went with something off the shelf the 503 would be good.
