Unhappy Wet comperssion test did not help...

I have very little comperssion on cylinder #1. Did a wet comperssion test and it did not help. Other cylinders are ok. no coolant leakage. I have had my heads ported and polished w new seals but stock valves a little less than 10k miles ago. Im thinking it has somthing to do with the valves. what kind of problems have people had with the valves being bad on these engines. I searched but didnt find much.....

Thanks

A sealing problem other than rings. Could be valve seats, cracks, even head gasket. How about a leakdown test? That might help determine where the compression is going, if you can hear it well enough.

Thanks for the reply... this all started to happen ( the car running bad) after I got rear ended. I didnt see you mention anything bad w the valves as a possibilty? could they be burrned or have crack in them? Do you know where I could borrow a leak down tester??

Thanks

I have the header and intake manifolds off now..... on the #1 exhaust port there is A LOT of black gunk? im thinking thats gas. the #1 intake port is clean. Maybe i have a bad exhaust valve?

this is an easy way to find the leak if you have the right compression gauge.... take the end off of it (spark plug hole side) and put an air fitting into and hook it directly to an airline...(if you have a compressor) and you should be able to hear where it's coming out at.... first check outside for the headgasket then if you don't find it, check under the valve cover for leaky valves....
