Were to buy a Pressurized oil canister??

Anyone know were you buy these things? I don't want to waste the cash on an accumulator because I will be using it only to pre oil engines before the first startup.

You can use an accumulator to pre oil your engine.

Pre-oilers and accumulators are made by TurboLube and MasterLube. The Eastwood Company sells them, but their prices tend to be on the high side. They currently list 3 choices:

TurboLube PreLubrication kit - Portable/non-permanent mounting uses a special connector/plug assembly, buy extra plugs for multiple cars. 3 Qt. capacity. $300.

MasterLube PreLubrication/Accumulator kit - Permanently mounted. Press a switch to activate. Can also be used as an accumulator for racing applications. 2Qt capacity $326; 3 Qt. capacity $350.

See, that's too expensive. Their has to be another alternative that works similar. Can an oil pump in a bucket work. I mean, is thier a way to connect a line from an oil pump to the oil pressure sending unit galley. That would work for me. It's not like I preoil engines all the time.

I did like the manual said on mine a couple of weeks ago when I dropped in my stroker. I just left the spark plugs out and cranked the motor until the pressure rose to 40 for a lil while. Put the plugs in and voila.....started the instant the ignition was clicked. You leave the plugs out so there is no compression in the cylinders so not to put any stress what so ever on the motor.

Why would anyone install an engine without first primming it. When the intake is off, you can use a regular oil pump primmer, that cost just $20. Run the pump, then slowly rotate the engine by hand, so that oil goes thru all the bearings and push rods. Lifters will be pumped up, then you can adjust your rockers. It amazes me that some one would install their engine, then check to see if there are any problems. Kevin

Any suggestions on what to do if you're installing them? Just put some RTV in the slip joint?

You know what...I didn't turn off my fuel pump. I just left it. I actually think it helped to fire up the motor on the initial touch of the ingition. AND I MEAN TOUCH! I didn't even heard a click and it started. I was kinda shocked.
