weird rubber-rubbing sound

Whenever I give it a good launch, whether it be WOT or 50-75% WOT, there is a sound in the front of my car, like rubber rubbing. Like a big squeak almost... imagine opening an old wooden door and it be like creeeeeeeeeeeek. It lasts for about a half second to a second... I thought this was balljoints, but i had them replaced today! (upper)
I do need new shocks, could this be it? its quite annoying

I vote front shocks. I am going through the exact same thing now that it is cold out. Mine also makes the noise when I hit a large dip in the road. Is it cold where you're at?

Re: weird rubber-rubbing sound

I had the exact same sound on the rear...sounds like a worn out bed when you first lay in it but without the metal squeeking...my rear shocks have a dried black substance coming out. THe front ones just did it recently too. I checked this by pushing the car down from the front and then the back. I also think i need new shocks.

A friend of mines camaro was doing about the same thing and it ended up being a broken sway bar bracket.

well, i plan on getting new shocks anyways. if that dont solve it, then the other solutions you guys suggest dont seem all that difficult/expensive. Thanks!
