Your point on the driver's weight is well taken... have you ever noticed the size of some of the people that drive Impala SS's at the track....
?
I just stripped my car because I'm doing a custom interior. Everything will look like the center console.

All the interior panels including the hatch and rear seat c-pillar panels together were around 100lbs. Maybe more.
The backseat seatbelts weighed the most out of any single item.
Anyone know where the factory amp is? Driver's side hatch panel maybe?

Gripenfelter, 100lbs -- that's awesome. Ever since I removed the panel directly beneath the steering column I realized I needed to gut and redo my interior (That SOB was heavy for a piece of plastic!) Anyway I'm curious to know what material that is on your center console. It looks good. And how much weight are you expecting it to add? (I have a friend who can wrap anything in carbon fiber, so I am leaning towards that. )
And yes my own personal fat **** could stand to lose 30 pounds.

For the centre console I just primered and painted it with some flexant in the paint.
But for some of the other stuff I will be making a fibreglass mold of it and then painting that.
Better pic of console before the interior was stripped:

You have to understand that different people have different uses for their cars... maybe some of us do not want/need a back seat, A/C, etc in a car that spends most of its time running the 1/4-mile, and virtually no time on the street.....

i would rather spend spend $300 gaining 15 hp rather than ruining the look of the car.
my baby's full weight...if anything, i have ADDED weight to it...with the amp, sub-woofer, the box, oh and wires too, cause we ALL know that wires weigh a whole 5 lbs, and God knows that's gonna make a huge difference.
strapping on an LT1 on a go-cart still sounds pretty weight efficient.

as a matter of fact, i have. i used to be an impala ss owner myself. on average, the guys looked like they weighed about 250. now, just imagine, if they lost 75lbs, they wouldnt have to take out the radio, wipers, rear view mirror, light *****, door handles, jack, carpet, turn signals, OR the poor horn.

I want to hit 250-260 around 10% bodyfat, I'm not getting smaller on purpose!
I bought a 97SS full boat (all the bells and whistles) and that's what I want. Not going to gut it just for a few ponies. It's just not the same in my opinon.
With my little bitsy 210/224 cam and 4.10s I can pull a pig out of a python with a little traction.
If I wanted a full-race ride, I'd of gotten a chevy nova 11 with a 454 BB.JMHO
